Anastasia’s Week
- Got into the Roller Disco scene, including watching the film Roller Boogie starring Linda Blair
- Also did a deep-dive into the No Wave scene: saw James Chance and the Contortions at Max’s Kansas City, The Bush Tetras at TR3, and watched Debbie Harry in Amos Poe’s The Foreigner
- Watched Klaus Nomi perform on Glenn O’Brien’s TV Party on New York public access
- Flew to London on Boxing Day, saw Talking Heads on South Bank Show on BBC
- And saw the massive lineup at Paul McCartney’s Concerts for the People of Kampuchea including this performance from Queen
Gabe’s Week
- Got some shirts and shorts for contemporary guys from Sears Roebuck
- Got an original Sony Walkman and listened to some non-punk music of the times, including Dolly Parton’s Great Balls of Fire, George Harrison’s George Harrison, and some disco hits of the time from Donna Summer and Bee Gees
- Watched the U.S.S. Enterprise creep out of drydock in Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and chased it down with a Star Trek Happy Meal. Also went to see The Jerk starring Steve Martin and was charmed by his duet with Bernadette Peters, and saw a zombie fight a shark in Lucio Fulci’s Zombi
- Went to the Forum to catch the Lakers dominating the Celtics in the first NBA game between Magic Johnson and Larry Bird
- Those birthdays! Tiffany Haddish, Lil Rel Howery, Rider Strong, John Krasinski and more. And RIP to Vivian Vance
